Company Profile

Independent Vision (Mere) Ltd was formed in September 2010. The company was initially a reseller of Electronic Magnification covering the South West and South Wales.

In May 2011 after recognising the need for an alternative to direct purchase it was decided to change the direction of the company to incorporate the renting out of Electronic Magnification and Reading Machines alongside continuing to sell the equipment.

Now working throughout England and Wales, the company has gone from strength to strength as people with sight loss and severe sight loss, and professionals who work in the field, realise the flexibility of hiring.

Jane Rumens

Jane has worked with people with sight impairment since 1998. She was employed by The Royal London Society for the Blind at Dorton House School and Dorton College until 2007. From 2007 to June 2010 Jane worked for the Royal National Institute for the Blind and Action for Blind People as a Post Compulsory Education and Training Officer and she managed the RNIB Disabled Student Allowance Assessment Centre at RNIB, Judd Street, London.

Forming Independent Vision (Mere) Ltd has enabled Jane, with Sales Manager Ian Middlecoat, to make Magnification and Reading Machines available to many people who do not wish or are not able to purchase.

Ian Middlecoat.

Ian has worked for over fifteen years within the low vision industry primarily selling Electronic Magnification and other products related to assisting people who are severely sight impaired.  Ian was employed initially by Concept Systems and then by Tieman UK Ltd before becoming Sales Manager for Enhanced Vision Europe Ltd.
